Advisory Guide for First Responders
This website has been assembled with first responders as its target audience. The intent is to inform first responders of the potential hazards they may encounter when working on or around a Cirrus airplane at an accident site. Special emphasis is placed on unique safety systems like the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS™) and Safe Return™ which contain hazards that may still be considered new or novel to members of the first responder community who haven’t received training on them yet.
The content contained on this website is considered advisory in nature in order educate first responders so they may understand the hazards and how to mitigate them. This site should not be used as a source document for complete disarming and rendering the pyrotechnic components of these systems inert. Only individuals who are properly trained, equipped, and have the proper certifications should handle the pyrotechnic materials described herein beyond the scope of the documents provided.
Cirrus Aircraft encourages first responders and any appropriate agencies involved with aircraft mishap response to become familiar with the content provided here and to encourage others to do so also.
